Nicholas Lua recently graduated from Yale-NUS College in Singapore. A History major and Global Antiquity minor, he studies the Tantric Religions in Ancient Southeast Asia (600-1400 CE). He also explores the reception of Sanskritic culture in the Modern Period. While he is primarily interested in the Sanskrit Cosmopolis, Nicholas has been inspired by ideas from across the Liberal Arts and Sciences, Literature and Philosophy in particular. Nicholas will begin an MA in History this Fall at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, where he plans to investigate Tantra’s relationship to Southeast Asian kingship in Old Javanese and Sanskrit sources.
