Helen Van Noorden is Lecturer in Classics at Girton College, Cambridge. Her first monograph, on ancient responses to Hesiod’s ‘myth of the races’, is in press at CUP. Currently she is investigating aspects of ancient apocalyptic discourse, from Homer to the Sibylline Oracles.
