We will be reading the Introduction and Chapter 1 (“‘A message from the antediluvian age’: The Modern Construction of the Ancient Epic of Gilgamesh”) from Karen Emmerich, Literary Translation and the Making of Originals (New York: Bloomsbury, 2017).
