I work primarily on Greek literature and cultural history and in particular on topics of visuality and aesthetics. The broader question underlying my research is how literature and literary studies can capture and revive the non-verbal moments and experiences of the ancient world (the sights, sounds, smells and overall material and affective experiences of the everyday). My research takes a holistic approach to antiquity, putting all facets of culture—literary, philosophical, material, and scientific—into conversation.

I’ve published and prepared forthcoming work on the cultural and intellectual history of Greek mirrors, as well as on issues of the self, subjectivity, and affect in Greek drama, philosophy, and oratory. I’m currently a Perkins-Cotsen Postdoctoral Fellow at the Princeton Society of Fellows. In the fall of 2020, I will be joining Haverford College as an Assistant Professor in Classics.
